FATAL SHOOTING AT HOLOCAUST MUSEUM ACT OF WHITE SUPREMIIST
Eighty-eight year old James W. von Brunn opened fire inside the Holocaust Museum in Northwest Washington, DC today, hitting and killing security guard Stephen Tyrone Johns, 39. Other security personnel on the scene returned fire, critically injuring the gunman who was taken to George Washington University Hospital.
Von Brunn who served in the United States Navy during World War II and also worked as an Advertising executive before becoming a self proclaimed author and artist according to a website that the gunman maintains.
Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D) praises the security guards for springing into action and preventing further injury and loss of life. According to an unnamed FBI official there was no prior warning, although Von Brunn was a known Neo Nazi who believed that the Holocaust was a “hoax”.
A statement by the Israeli Embassy condemned the attack. Reaction from the public has been one of shock, and sadness in Washington and around the nation., with some people even calling for the fallen security guard name to be added to the names that appear on a memorial at the museum.
